SCOTTISH HAPPENINGS
Puddledub Summer Show, Brechin, 9 August 2015
Five gorgeous Appaloosas and Spotteds strutted their stuff at Brechin for the Puddledub Summer Show on Sunday 9 August.  Unfortunately no entries for the youngstock class as I believe a couple of well know breeders in the area had been up all night foaling so unfortunately no mares with their babies this year!
The In-hand results were:  1st Lindertis Doubletake, 2nd Hero with June Booth, 3rd Larkmeadow Penny Arcade with Laura Henry and 4th Nocona Sharleene with Cheryl Erskine.
Ridden results were: 1st Arianne Holland with Nocona Black Elk, 2nd Kerri Dow and Oat So Simple, 3rd Sue Rore and Lindertis Doubletake and 4th Kimberley Booth riding her mum’s Hero.
As usual, a lovely busy, well organised show in a great location …. Thanks to Fiona Reed for including Appaloosa/Spot classes in her schedule.  Classes for our Spots confirmed already for next year!!  Well done everyone – turnout and behaviour was impeccable and our horses received some lovely comments from judges and other competitors.  It was lovely to see a bay solid pure bred Appaloosa in the line-up (Nocona Sharleene) …… educating a great many people that Appaloosas don’t always come with spots!    (Sue Rore)

SCOTTISH HAPPENINGS!

Brechin Castle Equestrian Spring Show 2015

Only two plucky competitors brought out their Appaloosas to show at Brechin Castle Equestrian’s Spring Show on 3rd May on what must have been one of the worst days ever for showing – with heavy rain, wind and cold!  Battling the weather and with dispensation from the judge to keep waterproofs on, Lindertis Doubletake won the in-hand class and Capitall Quinn won the ridden class going on to take the Championship!   Hopefully the weather will be kinder for the late summer Show on 30 August.

Fife Show, 2015

Fife Show on Saturday, 23 May saw beautiful weather bringing record attendance of over 13,000!  A good turnout of Appaloosas too, competing in 4 breed classes; in-hand over 4 years, youngstock, ridden over 4 years and judge’s colour choice.

4 Appaloosas took part in the in-hand.  Lindertis Doubletake coming 1st, with Denise Scott and Oor Miss Molly 2nd, Wendy Clark and Oor Gillie Dhu 3rd and Laura Hendry and Larkmeadow Penny Arcade.  The youngstock class was won by Oor Perfect to a Te and her owner Helen Sinclair.  Sue Rore’s Lindertis Doubletake went on to win the in-hand championship with Oor Perfect to a Te Reserve.

The ridden class had 4 entries, 1st was Breanna Paterson and Highly Addictive, 2nd was Sue Rore and Lindertis Doubletake, 3rd  Denise Scott and Oor Miss Molly, and 4th  was Wendy Clark and Oor Gillie Dhu.

The judge’s colour choice was contested by 3 leopards of different shades and a lovely blanket spot.  The blanket spot, Oor Gillie Dhu won the judge’s choice with Oor Miss Mollie 2nd, Lindertis Doubletake 3rd and Larkmeadow Penny Arcade 4th.

A great show, well organised, with good rings and lovely rosettes.  All the Appaloosas taking part were immaculately turned out, and were all so well  behaved, prompting many lovely comments from members of the public on our beautifully striking spotted horses!  Looking forward to next year’s show already!
