Merit Scheme Slip

Merit Scheme Instructions and rules.

Welcome to the new way of doing the merit scheme, the onus is now on you to collect them!!!

FROM 2024 ONWARDS THERE WILL NO LONGER BE A LIST OF SHOWS GENERATERD THAT HAVE REGISTERED WITH THE MERIT SCHEME.

INSTEAD, YOU NEED TO PRINT OUT THE SLIPS AS FOR LAST YEAR AND TAKE THEM TO ANY SHOW YOU ATTEND WITH THE LISTED CLASSES. TO PROVE YOU WERE THE HIGHEST PLACED MEMBER IN THE CLASS YOU CAN EITHER ASK THE JUDGE OR SHOW SECRETARY TO SIGN THE SLIP OR YOU CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF THE ROSETTE WITH THE SLIP AS PROOF.

1.     In 2024 the scheme is award-based. Rosettes will be awarded based on the total number of merits you collect.

2.     You must be a paid-up member on a registered horse to join in.

3.     In previous years you have been able to collect merits AND have your Inhand & Performance log signed for showing classes at the same show, this is now not permitted. You must decide which scheme you wish to place your points in from each show. It is entirely your choice.

4.     Merits are not awarded in BApS affiliated classes or championships.

5.     The classes you may claim merits in are as follows, a slight change from last year due to people not entering many of the classes included:

·       Foreign/world breeds – IH & R

·       Unusual colour / Coloured if including spots / spotted (depending on the schedule wording - IH & R

6.     You must carry your membership card and be up to date with it to be able to claim your merits.

7.     Fill in the slip fully for each show you attend and keep them together and send in as one at the end of the scheme.

8.     Merits awarded to the highest placed member (you must receive a placing rosette; specials do not count) on a registered horse. One per class.

9.     You must fill in all sections of the slip for it to count. Incomplete slips will not be included.

10. Scheme closes 31st of January each year. Letters post marked on or before this date will be accepted, or if you wish you can send very clear photos to the email address.

11. To claim your rosette, you must either attend the AGM each year to collect or send postage costs to the society PayPal (F & F) for it to be posted to you.

Entries to be e-mailed or sent via private message to Sam by 31st January each year.

   e-mail;  meritcards@appaloosa.org.uk

To receive your rosette we ask that you attend the Society AGM each year to collect it OR if you are unable to attend the AGM, you are required to send postage costs to the Society PayPal account and your rosette will then be posted to you.

Anyone who enters merit slips will need to do one or the other as all entries will receive a rosette.

If we do not hear from you regarding your preferred option, you will not receive your prize.
